Collection of Personal Information

The information we learn from you helps us personalize and continually improve your Furniture Mart shopping experience.  Furniture Mart only collects personal information you provide to us: 

·        when you sign up for our newsletter;

·        when you submit a request for assistance or product information;

·        when you make a purchase;

·        when you contact us via phone; or

·        when you interact with us using our online chat feature.

The information that we collect under these circumstances may include your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, IP address, and products purchased.  Furniture Mart holds credit card information submitted online for web cart purchases only long enough to authorize the purchase with our online payment processor and does not store this information.  Please review Security Measures below to see how Furniture Mart protects your financial information during this process.

Cookies

Furniture Mart utilizes secure e-commerce technology and is Payment Card Industry compliant.  Personally identifiable data (such as credit card information) is protected by 128-bit secure socket layer (“SSL”) encryption when exchanged between your web browser and the Furniture Mart websites.  To ensure that you are accessing our secure server before you submit personal financial information, look at the lower left-hand corner of your browser.  SSL is active if you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending on your browser).  To double-check, look at the URL line of your browser:  the first characters of the address in that line should read “https” if it is a secure server.

Furniture Mart secures all personal information on leased computer servers in a controlled, secured environment protected from unauthorized use or access.  Despite all of the security measures taken, the Internet is not a 100% secure environment.  Furniture Mart does not warrant the security of any information you transmit to its website.  There is no guaranty that information may not be accessed by breach of the physical, technical, or managerial safeguards maintained by us or our service partners.

Disclosure of Information

Furniture Mart does not sell data we collect to third parties.  We share personal information only as necessary to allow our third party service providers to carry out the responsibilities under their contracts or as allowed by you or this Policy.  We require our third party service providers to have appropriate information security safeguards and to use any information provided only for a specifically authorized purpose. 

We may share your personal information in the following ways:

Ownership and Control of Personal Information

You retain all rights to your personal information supplied to Furniture Mart and may modify or correct it.  If you update your information, we may keep a copy of the information originally provided in our archives for uses documented in this Policy. 

You may opt out of receiving future marketing emails when you place an order or may stop delivery of marketing emails from the Furniture Mart companies using the instructions contained in each email about removing your email address from our lists.  You may also contact Customer Service (using the methods described in the Questions and Comments Section above) anytime to request the removal of your address from our lists.

Furniture Mart owns the rights to certain proprietary information, including the trademarks, copyrighted text and graphics on its website, and to all research collected through the website.

Your Responsibilities

You have certain responsibilities when using the Furniture Mart websites, some of which come from applicable law while others are common standards for online behavior: 

·        You are responsible for insuring the accuracy of any information provided to Furniture Mart;
